Our team are Level 7 specialists in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Special Educational Needs (SEN), and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). We understand what your unique child needs to succeed. We are experts in supporting children at risk of dyslexia, children who speak English as an additional language, and children with speech and language differences. This work is why we are leading Phonics Reform England, a movement focused on early screening, self-paced phonics, and preventing the dyslexia paradox.

Anyone can become a Dyslexia Whisperer!

Every child deserves to be understood so that they do not fall behind. In the current system, too many do. At least 1 in 4.

I identify speech sound processing differences in toddlers before they start school, so their learning journey can be tailored to how their brain works. No more waiting years for a diagnosis after the child has been failed. If we align teaching with a child’s neurotype from the very start, most would never reach the point where a diagnosis is needed. In the current system a diagnosis doesn't lead to better support. Join me in creating a world where children who learn differently are recognised, supported and celebrated from the early years. Let us protect them from the system and show that same system what it is getting so wrong about dyslexia. Let's start a movement!

The Problem We Must Solve

Around the world, millions of children struggle with reading and spelling. Dyslexia is not diagnosed until they have been in school for at least two years. By this time, they have often endured repeated failure, lost confidence, and begun to believe they are “not good” at learning. This is known as the dyslexia paradox. The earlier we could identify children who learn differently, the greater their chance of success. However, most screening happens far too late.

Current screening approaches often involve letter names and sounds. If screening only happens once children have already been introduced to phonics the results are shaped by that teaching. For children who are neurodivergent, this conventional approach is often not what they need to avoid ongoing difficulties with reading and spelling.

I do things differently. I screen children before they start learning about letters and sounds. This means I can discover how they learn best from the very start, so their path can be tailored to them instead of forcing them into a one-size-fits-all approach that may never work for their brain. I then make sure they learn in ways that excite ther brains, and lead to self-teaching.

If we are to truly identify children who learn differently early and become attuned to their needs, we must stop trying to teach them in ways that do not align with their neurotype. Most do not know how to do that.

That is why I am building an army of Dyslexia Whisperers. These are people trained to understand what I do as the Neurodivergent Reading Whisperer and the founder of Dyslexia Whisperers. Together, we can transform the lives of children before they ever experience the pain of falling behind.
